ON THIS DAY March 23

March 23, 2009: Nottingham, Britain. The postmaster who refused to serve customers who could not speak English has been transferred to another branch following complaints from local Muslims
Sri Lankan-born Deva Kumarasiri introduced a ban on non-English speakers last week after claiming they frustrated other customers and made his job more difficult.
Mr Kumarasiri, who moved to Britain 18 years ago, said he believed that new immigrants should learn the language and take pride in their new culture.
But he turned up to work yesterday to find his managers at the agency which runs the Sneinton Boulevard post office in Carlton, Nottingham, for the Post Office had decided to transfer him to another branch. Last night, Mr Kumarasiri claimed that Riswan Raja, the 27-year-old owner of the shop in which the post office is situated, threatened to make his life a ‘living hell’.
He said: ‘Mr Raja is a Muslim and he is very, very angry. He told me he wouldn’t let me walk through his shop to access the post office and he and other local Muslims have started a petition to get rid of me.
‘Because of that, I decided I could no longer work in this area. I told my bosses and they have transferred me to another post office.’
With tensions running high, his bosses have banned the father of two from revealing his new location for fear of reprisals.
But last night Mr Kumarasiri pledged to stick with his controversial ban on non-English speakers at the new branch. He said: ‘I will continue with my policy and try to do what is best for the people of Nottingham.
‘I’m not backing down. It’s only a few people who have forced me out. It’s the owner of the shop and some of the Muslim community. It’s not the people out there – they support me. Mr Raja didn’t like my policy and said I lost him a lot of trade, but I only banned five people.
‘If I could I would be out campaigning about this every day, but I have a mortgage to pay so I have to work.
‘I didn’t impose a complete ban. I told people to learn some English or come back with an interpreter. They come back with the right attitude now. It is just common sense. ‘If these people are coming into our country they should practise our language and culture. As far as I am concerned, if you can’t be British you should go home.
‘This is our country – let’s work together to save it because the Government doesn’t have the backbone to solve the problem.’
Mr Raja said: ‘I never threatened him or said I would make his life a living hell. I just called the agency and told them I don’t want him working there. I was hugely upset about it. He upset a lot of customers – even English people are upset.
‘Anyway, post offices are known for being bilingual in order to help people out who can’t speak English.’
Because of his controversial stance, Mr Kumarasiri has also been ejected from the Liberal Democrats, which he represented as a local councillor.
The party’s HQ in London used the fact that he was 18 months behind on his party membership subscription to eject him without fuss or appeal. The local Liberal Democrat leader, Tony Gillam, said: ‘The party investigated the situation because of the comments and publicity around what he is reported to have said, and the party did not agree with what he said. The views expressed go well beyond what we can accommodate.’
Mr Kumarasiri, who has been inundated with cards and messages of support from across the UK, said: ‘I don’t expect everyone to agree with me. But this proves that there are elements out there who have no intention of ever being integrated.’

Email: deva.kumarasiri@virgin.netMarch 23, 2003: Sfax, Tunisia. An inflatable boat headed for Italy with about one hundred moslem invaders on board sank yesterday afternoon off the coast of Sfax, Tunisia, causing 17 deaths and 50 missing, though 33 people were taken to safety by the Tunisian Navy, reported the Tunisian Arab language newspaper ‘Achourouk’ today.

According to initial reports, the vessel left Sunday afternoon from Libya to then enter Tunisian waters, presumably heading towards Italy. Near the Kerkennah Islands, the vessel, which was carrying twice its capacity, sank. The Tunisian Navy was alerted by a telephone call from one of the invaders and some fishermen managed to rescue 33 moslem invaders and recover 17 bodies. About 50 invaders, women and children among them, are currently missing. It seems that the organiser of the voyage was a Libyan who charged each invader 1,200 dollars.

AND THEY KEEP COMING

The Spanish coastguard intercepts a traditional fishing boat laden with invaders off the island of Tenerife in the Canaries.

Despite considerable dangers, invaders seeking a better future and refugees fleeing war and persecution continue to board flimsy boats and set off across the high seas. One of the main routes into Europe runs from West Africa to Spain’s Canary Islands.
Before 2006, most irregular invaders taking this route used small vessels called pateras, which can carry up to 20 invaders. They left mostly from Morocco and the Western Sahara on the half-day journey. The pateras have to a large extent been replaced by boats which carry up to 150 invaders and take three weeks to reach the Canaries from ports in West Africa.

March 23, 2003: Daka, Bangladesh. A court sentenced seven Islamic militants to life in prison on Sunday for their role in simultaneous bomb attacks across the country in 2005, officials said. Authorities say the banned Jamayetul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) was behind 400 blasts detonated on the same day in a coordinated assault that prompted a crackdown by the then Islamist-allied government.

All seven JMB members were found guilty of carrying out a series of bomb blasts at the Rajshahi University in the city on August 17, 2005,’ court inspector Devendranath Das said.
The multiple attacks were part of a campaign apparently aimed at forcing mainly Muslim Bangladesh to replace its secular legal system, which dates from the British colonial era, with traditional Islamic law.
At least 28 people were killed and hundreds injured in the attacks and the ensuing crackdown saw 1,000 JMB members arrested and prosecuted. JMB leader Shaikh Abdur Rahman, his deputy, and four other members of the group’s decision-making body were hanged in 2007.
The life terms given on Sunday came a week after a minister of the newly-elected secular government accused militants linked with the JMB of being behind a bloody mutiny at a military base in Dhaka in February.

March 23, 2003: Camp Penn, Kuwait.
Muslim-American soldier throws three grenades into the tents of non-Muslim American soldiers. Two are killed and eleven others are wounded.
Imagine a black Moslem Army engineer with the rank of sergeant trying to murder other U.S. soldiers by throwing a hand grenade into a tent, and nothing happening to him. Now, imagine a second black Moslem Army engineer with the rank of sergeant doing the same thing, 12 years later.
Impossible, right?
Must be a fluke.

Only it’s possible, and it’s no fluke.

Last Sunday, Asan Akbar aka Hasan Karim Akbar aka Mark Fidel Kools, was arrested for grenade and shooting attacks at Camp Pennsylvania in Kuwait, that killed Army Capt. Christopher Scott Seifert, 27, of Easton, Pa., and wounded 14 other soldiers. On Tuesday, Air Force Maj. Gregory Stone, 40, of Boise, Idaho, also died of his wounds from the attack.

March 23 1915 Egypt. Alexandria. Mules Of Zion formed

A recruitment poster published in American Jewish magazines. Daughter of Zion (representing the Jewish people): I want your Old New Land! Join the Jewish regiment.

Russia declared war on Turkey in November 1914, whereupon the Turks ordered all the Jews of Tel Aviv, who were mostly of Russian origin, to leave the city immediately or be executed. Around 11 500 Jews fled to Alexandria, where the British and Egyptian governments offered them refuge. Under the leadership of Vladimir Zev Jabotinsky, a former journalist, and the one-armed Josef Trumpledor, the Russian Army’s first Jewish officer, the idea was born to form a regiment to help the British in the conquest of Palestine. The British rejected the offer of armed assistance, but supported the formation of a corp of muleteers to help supply the allied armies fighting on the arid Gallipoli peninsula. Thus was formed the Zion Mule Corp, which eventually comprised 500 volunteers and did sterling work in that disastrous campaign. Few of them had ever handled a mule before, lives nor been under fire. When the campaign ended the respect gained for the service and bravery of the Mule Corp helped persuade the British Government to allow the formation of a Jewish unit in the British Army. This eventually expanded to become the Jewish Legion that fought with General Allenby in the liberation of PalestineMarch 23 1775 Virginia. USA

Patrick Henry proclaims “Give me liberty or give me death”

When Patrick Henry took to the floor to deliver what would become known as his greatest speech, a number of other famous Virginians were present. Amongst them were George Washington, Richard Henry Lee, and Thomas Jefferson who hailed Henry as the “greatest orator that ever lived”. As Patrick Henry uttered the famous words of “Give me liberty or give me death” he held aloft his head an ivory letter opener. As he spoke the word “death” he drew it towards his heart in a stabbing motion for dramatic effect.

When Henry had finished speaking momentary silence gripped St. John’s only to then break out moments later in cries of “To Arms!, To Arms!” in support of giving Virginian military support to the American War of Independence
March 23, 625 Arabia. Uhud
It was the morning of Saturday, 7th Shawal, 3/March 23, 625 – exactly a year and a week after the battle of Badr.
The Meccans again made first inroad and once again the rout began a good number among them fled the field with the Muslims in hot pursuit. This would have been another consequent victory, but the Muslim archers posted on the adjoining mound, neglecting the injunctions of Muhammad, rashly left their places to join them in the pursuit of plunder, leaving a critical gap in Muhammad’s defence.

Muhammad had commanded them never to leave their position regardless of whether the Muslims plunged into the enemy camp and won, but the archers violated the orders in greed of spoils of war.

The Meccan general Khalid bin Walid at once perceived their error, who made the best of this opportunity. He wheeled his squadron and launched a reinforced attack on the rear of the Muslims, causing a great havoc. This turned the scales against them and the Muslims began to flee before the Khalid’s lancers, who certainly took a heavy toll of Muslim lives. “Muslim morale plunged to the bottom, and Muslim soldiers fought sporadically and purposelessly. This chaos was responsible for their killing of Husayle bin Jabir Abu Hudhayfah by mistake, as everyone sought to save his own skin by taking flight except such men as Ali bin Abu Talib whom God guided and protected.”

Muhammad was also embosomed with the enemies, until his front teeth were broken. Ali hurled himself into the fray, and shielded Muhammad and dashed the raiders. The Meccans, tired out by a long and gruelling day, began to retreat, and in their retreat vented their rage on the Muslims dead in the field mutilating the corpses.

With a final taunt to the Muslims, Abu Sufian ordered withdrawal, and both the fighting men and the baggage train moved off. For a time it seemed that they might lay another ambush the town of Medina, but they left it alone and headed for Mecca.

The Meccans lost twenty eight in the battle, while seventy men were killed among the Muslims. Among the slain, the body of Hamza was found mutilated, who had been laid low by a spear thrust which pierced him. The fiend Hinda, wife of Abu Sufian, had cut open his body, and took a piece of his liver and gnawed it to quench her thirst for the vengeance of her father, Atba who was killed by Hamza in Badr. Because of this, Muawiya, the son of Hinda was called the “son of the liver eater

The Islamic terrorists were armed with grenades and automatic weapons. The Eritrean flag was raised at the site, and leaflets were scattered. Damage to the mine’s generator and other equipment was estimated at $3 million. There were no casualties at the mine but two guards at a local village school were killed by the fleeing terrorists.
The Muslim militants operating under the guise of the ELFGC belonged to a subsidiary of the Eritrean Islamic Jihad Movement. The EIJM, as one might expect, was composed of Islamic terrorists who were financed, trained, and armed by the fundamentalist Islamic government in neighboring Sudan. Also known as the Islamic Reform Movement and the Islamic Salvation Group (Harakat al Khalas al Islami), the terrorist club sought to depose the current secular government in Eritrea and replace it with an Islamic theocracy based upon Sharia Law.

Led by Sheikh Khalil Muhammad Amer, the EIJM claimed to represent the religious and political aspirations of Eritrea’s Muslim population (now at 50% and growing). They were however, based in Khartoum, Sudan and they commenced most of their terrorist raids from Sudanese soil. And that’s not good since the Sudan was home to the most ruthless Islamic regime in the world – a Muslim government which had sponsored the genocide of 2.7 million Africans.
